Welcome to Florida Wing Public Affairs and Marketing!

Information is the key to our success. Public Affairs (PA) is one of the most important functions within Civil Air Patrol — no area of CAP activity is more vital to the success of the organization.

Florida Wing's public affairs and marketing directorate is responsible for developing and maintaining the wing's media outreach, internal information and marketing initiatives, as well as emergency communications, Internet content and social media, and training for public affairs specialists and public information officers.

Information is power. Timely information is critical. And we will deliver.

Your one-stop shop
We handle internal and external news, of course, but are tasked with marketing CAP across Florida... with the help, of course, of group and squadron public affairs officers. And as the directorate develops, it will become a one-stop shop for multimedia print and electronic communication.

From PowerPoint presentations to certificates, invitations and business cards, from phone interviews to print newsletters, even requests to do Web and higher-end graphic design work, we will meet and exceed Wing needs.

We seek team members with experience in marketing, sales, social media, Web design, public relations and writing/editing disciplines. You don't have to join the wing staff to help, either -- you can join us on an additional-duty (ADY) basis, while helping your home unit.

On the right side of this page, you'll find links to PA information and downloads to help you. The national Web sites also provide information and materials for print, Internet and broadcast media.
Articles with as many as two accompanying photos may be submitted for publication via e-mail to Once processed, articles will be published to the wing Web site, wing newsletter, Southeast Region online news or to CAP Volunteer Now. Submissions from squadrons should generally go through their group public affairs officer, who will submit the information to the wing PA directorate. If a submitted story involves more than one unit, please notify the group PA so he/she can include the other units before sending the story to Wing.

WINGSPAN, the quarterly newsletter
The newsletter, resurrected with the Spring 2010 issue, is a next-generation newsletter. Not intended to be redundant to the online news service, which publishes news in real time, Wingspan offers value by offering tools and tips from wing officials as well as from out in the field. It adds additional content not available on the Web site, including more images. And it includes you. Submissions are due in the month preceding the end of each calendar quarter.
